The Peer Unschooling Network and the Alliance for Self-Directed Education are partnering to offer the 2020 Create+Connect program.  

Create+Connect is a free, online program that connects teenagers with mentors to support them in pursuing their passions.

Create+Connect starts on June 24th and ends on August 19th of 2020.  During those 8 weeks, you will work with a mentor who has expertise in the subject you’re interested in. 

The Create+Connect program is designed to be flexible to fit your goals; whether you are interested in building a robot, learning calligraphy, or writing a novel.  No matter how big or small your dreams are, let Create+Connect open the doors to your success.  

The program kicks off with a group video meeting introducing all the participants to one another and ensuring that you are equipped with the tools to benefit as much as possible from your mentorship opportunity.  Over the next eight weeks, you’ll work one-on-one with your mentor, typically meeting once a week virtually.  The program concludes with a wrap up meeting where you can share with the other participants what you’ve learned and created.

Support from the Create  + Connect team is also available via video, audio, or chat room messaging in case you have questions or issues that are more personal and need to be handled quickly.

This program is designed to be straight forward and self-directed. We won’t leave you in the dark, but we definitely don’t define what a successful project is.  Mentors are here to be a catalyst; accelerating your progress toward your desired goals.

• Application deadline: June 1, 2020
• Participants announced: June 14, 2020
• Program starts: June 24, 2020 (kick off meeting)

Responsibilities and Commitments

Note: if you are attending any summer camps or taking vacations and need a week or two off, we're 100% flexible with that!

• Able to work independently
• Weekly call with your mentor (typically an hour)
